About Melissa
Melissa Sexton started attending home births in 2003 and continued working as an apprentice and midwife's assistant for the Home Birth Midwifery Service, in Memphis, TN, (now located in Richmond, VA) until 2008. Melissa practiced in Memphis, TN from 2008- 2010 as a senior midwife with Full Circle Midwifery. In the fall of 2010, Melissa established Meadowsweet Midwifery to serve the home birth community here in the Denver Metro area.

A home birth mother of four children, (1998, 2000, 2002 and 2011) she understands the needs and choices of her clientele very well. Her personal experience as a home birth midwifery consumer and her passion for herbal and holistic medicine challenged her to pursue her goal to serve families as a home birth midwife.

When she is not working with other families she is on the go with her kids and helping others in the midwifery community. She loves cooking, gardening, and enjoying the outdoors with her family. Her husband Bryan "Chris" Sexton works at Delta Airlines. His job encouraged their family to make the move to Denver in 2010 and Melissa happily became part of the community of Denver homebirth midwives.
Throughout the years she has attended many workshops and conferences on pregnancy, birth, and holistic care. She has dedicated many hours to organizations in the mid-south to promote home birth and gentle births in the hospital setting.
Melissa earned her NARM CPM credential in March 2009. She is a registered midwife (RM) in the state of Colorado. Melissa is certified in CPR and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and is a member of MANA and NARM.
She has been serving as the President of the Colorado Midwives Association since 2018. Melissa is grateful for the opportunity to serve the midwife community and to help protect home birth as a choice for Colorado women.
About Samantha
Samantha (she/her) has always loved pregnancy, birth, and babies. After the birth of her first son via cesarean, she knew there had to be a better way. Deciding to go for a VBAC she found midwifery care and fell in love with the model. Though she didn’t get a homebirth the first time around, she was still victorious in achieving her VBAC safely and joyfully. It was then she knew she wanted to be a midwife and provide the same love, compassion, and trust filled support she experienced with her own midwife.
In 2009 she began her midwifery studies very slowly as well as completeing a 36 hour doula training with ToLabor. She attended births as a doula throughout the years while still raising littles and have 4 homebirths of her own, including as a surrogate in 2017. It was an honor and was the final push she needed to go all in with midwifery. In the fall following her beautiful surrogacy experience she connected with Melissa and began her apprenticeship.
She completed her training in 2021 and passed the national certifying exam with the North American Registry of Midwives making her a Certified Professional Midwife. On the 10 year anniversary of Melissa’s coloado liscense Samantha got her Colorado license as well.

Samantha lives in Golden with her husband of 18 years and their four living children (born 2005, 2007, 2012, and 2014). In her free time she enjoys creating art, going for walks, and the beauty of our incredible state. She loves to laugh and infuses humor into work when possible.
